Building a Skincare Routine Around Your Aesthetic Treatments

Professional aesthetic treatments can produce results that no at-home routine can replicate on its own. But between appointments, your skin needs consistent, appropriate care to maintain and extend those results. A good daily routine is not a substitute for professional treatment, it is a complement to it.

The foundations

Cleanse correctly

Use a gentle, non-stripping cleanser that removes makeup and daily pollution without disrupting the skin's barrier. Over-cleansing with harsh products damages the skin barrier and leads to dehydration and sensitivity. A simple, effective cleanser is all you need.

SPF every single day

This is non-negotiable. UV exposure is responsible for the majority of visible skin ageing, lines, pigmentation, loss of elasticity. It also degrades filler and compromises the results of any skin treatment you have invested in. SPF 50, every day, including winter. No exceptions.

Hydration

A good moisturiser keeps the skin barrier intact and comfortable. If you have had skin boosters or mesotherapy, the skin may feel plumper and more resilient in the short term, but daily moisturising is still important for long-term health.

Active ingredients worth considering

Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that protects against UV damage and supports collagen production. Apply in the morning under SPF.

Retinol, stimulates cell turnover and collagen production. Use at night and introduce slowly if you are new to it. Not suitable immediately after some aesthetic treatments, ask your practitioner.

Niacinamide, reduces redness, pore appearance, pigmentation and strengthens the skin barrier. Very well tolerated by most skin types.

What to avoid

Avoid anything harsh in the immediate days after a professional treatment. Strong acids, scrubs and retinoids should be paused for at least 48 hours after injectable or microneedling treatments.
