What are nasolabial folds?

What are marionette lines?

These extend downward from the corners of the mouth toward the chin, giving the face a downturned, heavy expression in some people. Softening them with filler can significantly change the resting expression of the lower face.

What does the treatment involve?

After numbing cream is applied, hyaluronic acid filler is injected precisely along the fold or line using a fine needle or cannula. The appointment takes 30 to 45 minutes. Results are visible straight away, with any initial swelling settling over the following few days.

How long do results last?

Results typically last nine to fifteen months, depending on the product used, the depth of the lines and individual metabolism. A two-week review is included.

Who is suitable?

Most adults who are bothered by nasolabial folds or marionette lines are suitable candidates. Treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Very deep lines with significant skin laxity may benefit more from a combination approach, which we will discuss at consultation.

Aftercare

• Avoid touching the treated area for 24 hours
• Some swelling and bruising is normal, typically settling within five to seven days
• Avoid exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 hours
• A two-week review is included

Frequently asked questions

Will filler for these lines look natural?

Yes, when placed correctly. We use a conservative amount and assess the result throughout the appointment. The goal is to soften the line, not erase it completely, which keeps results looking natural and proportionate.

Can it lift the lower face as well as soften the lines?

Filler in the nasolabial area does provide some support and lift to the lower face, particularly when combined with cheek filler or jawline filler as part of a broader treatment plan. Addressing volume at multiple levels gives the most natural-looking result.

Is it painful?

Numbing cream is applied before treatment and the products used also contain lidocaine. Most clients find the treatment very comfortable.

Can this be combined with anti-wrinkle injections?

Yes. Anti-wrinkle injections and filler complement each other well and many clients have both at the same appointment or in close proximity. Your practitioner will advise on the best combination and timing.

How soon will I see results?

Results are visible immediately, though the final settled result is best assessed at your two-week review once any swelling has fully resolved.
