How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid filler is injected into specific areas of the lip tissue to add volume, shape and definition. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, which means it integrates well and is gradually broken down over time. The result feels soft and natural, not firm or artificial.

What does the treatment involve?

Numbing cream is applied first and given time to take effect. Filler is then carefully injected using a fine needle, with shaping and review throughout. The appointment takes around 30 to 45 minutes. Results are visible immediately, though some swelling in the first 24 to 48 hours is perfectly normal before the final result settles.

How long do results last?

Most clients enjoy their results for six to twelve months. The lips tend to metabolise filler a little faster than other areas, so top-ups every nine to twelve months are common for maintaining the look.

Who is suitable?

Lip fillers are suitable for most healthy adults over 18. They are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for anyone with active cold sores or infection around the mouth at the time of treatment. If you are prone to cold sores, let us know at your consultation as we may recommend taking antiviral medication beforehand.

Aftercare

• Avoid pressing or kissing firmly for 24 hours
• Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise and extreme heat for 24 hours
• Stay well hydrated as hyaluronic acid attracts water
• Some swelling and bruising is normal and usually settles within three to five days
• A two-week review appointment is included

Frequently asked questions

Will my lips look natural?

That is entirely in our hands, and we take it seriously. We use a conservative approach, adding small amounts at a time and assessing the result throughout the appointment. The goal is always enhancement, not transformation.

Can lip fillers be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. If at any point you are unhappy with your result, we can discuss reversal. This is one of the main reasons we choose hyaluronic acid fillers over other types.

I have never had lip filler before. Where do I start?

Book a consultation. We will look at your lips, talk about what you are hoping to achieve, show you some reference points and give you an honest view of what is realistic for your lip shape. There is no pressure to proceed on the day.

Does it hurt?

Numbing cream is applied before treatment, which significantly reduces discomfort. Most clients describe a mild pinching or pressure sensation during the injections. The lips are one of the more sensitive areas of the face, but the discomfort is brief and very manageable.

My lips look very swollen. Is that normal?

Yes. Swelling is a completely normal part of the healing process and can look more pronounced in the first 24 to 48 hours than your final result will. The filler settles and any puffiness reduces over the following few days. Your two-week review gives us a chance to assess the true result and make any refinements.

Can I wear lipstick straight after treatment?

We recommend avoiding makeup on the lips for at least 12 hours after treatment. After that, you can wear lip products as normal.

Can I combine lip filler with lip skin boosters?

Yes. Lip skin boosters can be used alongside lip filler to add hydration and improve texture, or as a standalone treatment if you want a more subtle result. Your practitioner can advise on the best approach at consultation.
