Laser hair removal is one of the most effective long-term solutions for unwanted hair, but how you look after your skin between sessions plays a real part in your comfort and your results. A few simple habits in the days after treatment help the skin settle quickly and keep your course on track.
Straight after your session
It is completely normal for the treated area to look slightly pink and feel a little warm, similar to mild sunburn. With the Soprano Ice Titanium this reaction is usually mild and settles within a few hours, but everyone's skin responds slightly differently. Avoid touching or rubbing the area, and keep it clean and cool.
What to avoid for the next 48 hours
- Hot showers, baths, saunas and steam rooms
- Strenuous exercise that causes excess sweating
- Perfumed lotions, deodorants or harsh skincare on the treated area
- Direct sun exposure, and always wear SPF if the area is exposed
- Waxing or plucking between sessions (shaving is fine, and recommended)
These precautions reduce the chance of irritation while the skin is still settling, and they help protect your results.
Managing redness and sensitivity
If the skin feels warm or tight, a cool compress or aloe vera gel can help. Most clients find any sensitivity has faded by the next day. If redness or swelling persists beyond 48 hours, or if you notice blistering, get in touch with us so we can take a look.
Caring for your skin between sessions
Keep the treated area moisturised and protected from the sun throughout your course, this is one of the simplest ways to support even, lasting results. You may notice hairs shedding over the one to two weeks following a session; this is the treated hair falling out, not new growth, and is a good sign the treatment is working.
Staying on track with your course
Most clients need a course of six to eight sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, to see lasting results. Sticking to the recommended interval between appointments matters as much as aftercare itself, it allows the laser to catch hairs at the right stage of their growth cycle.
