Whether it is your first time having any aesthetic treatment or your first time visiting Tu Bella, knowing what to expect and how to prepare makes the experience significantly smoother. Here is our practical guide.
Before the appointment
Stop blood thinners if possible
Aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil supplements and alcohol can all thin the blood and increase the likelihood of bruising after injectable treatments. If you are able to, avoid these for a week before your appointment. Do not stop any prescribed medication without speaking to your GP first.
Stay hydrated
Well-hydrated skin responds better to most treatments, particularly skin-focused ones like HydraFacial and skin boosters. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.
Come with clean skin
For any injectable treatment, come with clean skin and no heavy makeup if possible. Your practitioner will cleanse the skin before treatment, but arriving without makeup saves time and reduces the risk of any product interfering with the process.
Eat beforehand
If you are having an injectable treatment, eat a proper meal beforehand. Low blood sugar can cause light-headedness during treatment. This is particularly relevant if you are anxious about needles.
Photograph your concerns
If there is a particular area you want to address, take some photos before your appointment so you can refer to them during the consultation. Sometimes the concern is subtle and hard to describe, a photo helps enormously.
At the appointment
Your appointment begins with a consultation. Be honest about your medical history, any medications you take, and any previous treatments you have had. This information helps us give you the safest and most effective treatment.
Do not feel pressured to proceed with treatment if you are not ready. We would rather you leave, think about it and come back when you are certain, than feel rushed into something on the day.
After the appointment
Your practitioner will give you specific aftercare instructions depending on what you have had done. Follow them, they are there for a reason.
